To our dear family, friends and dancers,
It is impossible to believe that Monique School of Dance is 45 years old! I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your time, children and participation, as we close our studio forever.
During these past years we have marked many milestones. We started our studio at the Valley Ridge Shopping Center in Burnsville in 1972, then moved to Apple Valley in 1974.
I began my dancing career at the age 7 and became a professional ballerina at the Geneva Opera Company. I received my Certificate de Danse from the Conservatory of Geneva, Switzerland. When I moved to the US and married, I was a principal dancer and member and teacher with the Andahazy Borealis Ballet Company in St. Paul. For more than 20 years I worked and choreographed for the Burnsville Jr. Miss Pageant.
During our years, we have had many of our Dancers go on professionally into dance, movies, videos and internationally. We have sent 11 dancers to perform with the Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Carribean, 1 dancer to Moulin Rouge in Paris, 2 dancers to work in modeling and runway work in Germany, dancers to perform in Japan, England, Radio City Rockettes, Las Vegas with Rick Springfield and 10 Dancers who have opened their own Dance Studios.
We have had many highs and lows during the years. We remember with great love and fondness our photographer, Don Zander, who for so many years was our sound man and photographer. My grandson Paul Fisher who left us way too early, Alana Lauer a beautiful dancer on her way to a career in medicine, and also to fathers and mothers from our dance family. We all faced these things together and the support was so kind, loving and appreciated for everyone. We thank you for all the prayers and words of kindness and hugs for all of our families.
Our Dancers have had many opportunities to study with the best of Choreographers from Broadway, L.A., Chicago , Las Vegas, London and Switzerland. We have made dance trips to Geneva, Switzerland, Los Angeles, New York City, Las Vegas, Chicago and Oklahoma. We have participated in The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York in 2001, 2007 and 2011. For over 25 years we have danced in the St. Paul Winter Carnival’s Grande Day and Torchlight Parades. Other performances include The Internantional Special Olympics, Super Bowl 26, Jr. Miss Pageants, Spring Fling at the Minnesota Zoo, Nursing homes, Fashion Shows and corporate functions throught the cities.
We have been blessed with the thousands of dancers who have come through our studio and have had their children, grandchildren and now my great-grandchildren dance with us. Being a non-competitive studio, we are able to concentrate on technique, the love of dance, help build self-esteem and presence, work ethics and discipline to help get through life’s demands. Dancers can dance for their love of dance and feel an accomplishment.
To you all, my gratitude and love for being a part of our family’s life and for your support and love throughout all these years.
Thank you and much love,
